Conclusion:
USA may be one of the most developed countries of the world but unfortunately, it has one of the world’s largest health discrimination between the rich and the poor. The USA healthcare system lacks the social support needed badly for poor patients.
Poor Americans have complained about worse healthcare facilities than the rich Americans. According to a research conducted by the Harvard University on Issues of Health Affairs, suggested that 38.2% poor Americans have said that the medical services given to them were “fair or too poor” compared to just 12.3% of the richest Americans.
This gap is caused by many factors, but researchers have indicated that the leading reason was the poor not having medical insurance in the country. Survival in USA is already very costly, and even if the poor want to opt out for healthcare insurance plan they won’t be able to do so because the out-of-pocket-costs are less equitable. Therefore, the poor get scorched amidst the high cost of US healthcare system.
Elizabeth H. Bradley, a professor of public health at Yale and the faculty director of the Yale Global Health Leadership Institute, wasn’t involved in the research but she has pointed out another factor making the whole picture clearer to us:
“Another issue may be society itself. The U.S. provides fewer social safety nets. It is the services and programs that help prevent people from falling into poverty than many other countries.
When we look at other high-income countries and see how much of the GDP these different countries spend on things like income support, housing, nutrition etc but in the U.S.it is much lower”-said Elizabeth
Nonprofits are fighting for a greater cause but they have certain drawbacks. They need to be funded by the civilians to work for them because they are not allowed to make profits.
Nonprofit organizations are highly dependent on voluntary donations. Therefore public funds and donations are the biggest strength of these organizations.
Every individual has the right to live a healthy life. We are fortunate that we have sufficient income to ensure timely and proper medical care for ourselves, but not everyone is as fortunate as us.
Our generous acts can give a ray of hope to the poor population.Let us come forward to support the nonprofit health organizations so that millions of lives can be saved from distress and premature deaths.
