Zubair Hussain's Story

Zubair, an 11-year-old boy residing in Karachi, has faced the challenges of an abnormal urinary pathway since birth. He was diagnosed with subcoronal hypospadias, a congenital condition where the opening of the urethra, the tube through which urine passes, is located on the underside of the penis instead of at the tip. This condition can significantly impact Zubair’s urine control and quality of life.

Due to the abnormal positioning of the urethral opening, Zubair experiences difficulties with urination, such as a weaker stream or spraying of urine. Recognizing the impact this condition has on Zubair’s well-being, the doctor recommended hypospadias repair—a surgical procedure that would correct the positioning of the urethral opening and improve his urinary function.

However, Zubair’s father faced a financial crisis that made it impossible for him to afford the necessary surgery. In search of assistance, Zubair’s case was registered with Transparent Hands. Through the compassion and generosity of donors, the funds required for Zubair’s surgery were raised, offering him a glimmer of hope for a better future.

With the financial burden lifted, Zubair was admitted to Murshid Hospital, Karachi, where he was placed under the care of Dr. Khair Jan, a skilled surgeon specializing in hypospadias repair. On the 13th of October 2023, the surgery was successfully performed. The procedure aimed to correct the abnormality and restore normal urinary function.

After one day of post-operative care, Zubair was discharged from the hospital, his condition was stable and his spirits lifted. The successful surgery and the dedicated support of Transparent Hands and the generous donors brought renewed hope and joy to Zubair and his family. It highlights how collective efforts can uplift individuals facing medical challenges and provide them with the opportunity for a brighter future.
