Zahid’s Total Hip Replacement Surgery Was Successful

Muhammad Zahid, a 28-year-old resident of Lahore, had been experiencing intense hip pain for the past two years. He was unable to walk without support, making him dependent on others for even minor tasks. After suffering for a while, Zahid decided to consult a specialist. The doctor performed a comprehensive examination and diagnosed him with bilateral Femoral Avascular Necrosis. However, his right hip joint was more symptomatic than the left one; therefore, his doctor advised right Total Hip Replacement (THR) surgery. However, the surgical cost was out of his financial capacity.

Zahid lived a sorrowful life after losing his parents at a young age. Following that tragedy, he moved in with his uncle, where he lived with his wife and children. Due to his inability to walk and stand, Zahid was unemployed. His uncle, the sole breadwinner in the family, worked as a daily wage laborer and made just PKR 25,000 per month. With this meager monthly income, they hardly managed the household expenses. Affording to pay for Zahid’s much-needed surgery was significantly challenging for them. During this difficult time, Zahid contacted Transparent Hands and asked for assistance. Moved by his plea, we registered his case.

On January 14, 2025, Zahid was admitted to the Pakistan Society for Rehabilitation of Differently Abled (PSRD). His surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Saleem on January 15, 2025, giving him new hope and courage. Zahid received essential medicines and post-operative care and was discharged in stable condition on January 17, 2025.

Zahid was overwhelmed with happiness and said with teary eyes:

“I had given up hope, but this surgery changed everything. I can walk without pain, and work again. The happiness I feel is overwhelming. You have given me a life I never thought possible. I am extremely grateful for your generous support.”

Zahid is now healing and taking small yet significant steps towards walking independently. He can now live a healthy and happy life where he no longer needs to rely on others to carry out his daily tasks. His family is incredibly grateful to you for supporting him and changing his life.
