You Unlocked the World of Sounds for Arshan Ali
Arshan Ali's Story
Arshan Ali, a 2-year-old boy from Badin, Sindh, was unable to hear the sounds around him. Arshan smiled and played like other kids, but had never heard his parents’ soothing voices and the laughter of other children. His parents were heartbroken to see him in this condition and they took him to a local hospital to consult a doctor, who performed a thorough examination and diagnosed him with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. To allow him to hear and speak, the doctor advised cochlear implant surgery. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for Arshan’s family.
Arshan lived in a small mud house with his seven family members. His father was a kidney patient and unable to work to provide for his family. Arshan’s uncle financially supported the family for living expenses. They were already struggling to make ends meet and affording to pay for this surgery was impossible for them. They were hopeless, knowing Arshan would continue to remain deaf if he didn’t undergo the surgery. During this time of need, Arshan’s family contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for assistance.
On 3rd October 2024, Arshan was admitted to GIMS Hospital in Gambat. The surgery took place on 4th October 2024. Dr. Maqbool Ahmed inserted the internal component of the cochlear implant. Arshan was hospitalized for two days and received post-operative care. On 5th October 2024, Arshan was discharged in satisfactory condition from the hospital.
Six weeks after the surgery, the external component of the cochlear implant was installed. Arshan now attends speech therapy sessions, which is another milestone in his successful recovery. Arshan’s parents described their happiness as follows:
“Seeing his face light up when he hears us is a gift we’ll cherish forever. Thank you for helping our little son hear the world. We can never forget your generosity.”
Your support has changed his life, allowing him to hear the voices of those who love him most. Arshan’s family extends heartfelt thanks to you for being a miracle during their time of need.
