Syeda Abeera Fatima, a four-year-old girl from Larkana, has been living with hearing loss since birth. Despite her young age, Abeera’s condition has posed significant challenges for her and her family. When she turned one, her parents discovered her hearing impairment and immediately sought medical help. The doctor suggested cochlear implant surgery as a potential solution, but Abeera’s father couldn’t afford the high costs associated with the procedure. In their search for assistance, they turned to Transparent Hands.

With the support of Transparent Hands and generous donors, Abeera was admitted to GIMS Hospital, Gambat. On February 20, 2024, Dr. Maqbool, a skilled surgeon, successfully implanted the internal component of the cochlear implant. After just two days, Abeera was discharged from the hospital, filled with renewed hope for the future.

Under the guidance of dedicated healthcare professionals and with the help of donors, Abeera embarked on a journey of rediscovery. Over six weeks, the external implant was installed, and she began attending scheduled speech therapy sessions. These sessions offered the promise of regaining the wonder of sound once more.
