Muhammad Ikram’s Eyesight

Muhammad Ikram's Story

Muhammad Ikram, a 38-year-old resident of Multan, had been struggling with progressively worsening vision in his left eye. What began as occasional blurriness soon turned into constant dim sight, making even simple daily activities difficult for him. Concerned for his wellbeing and future, Ikram visited a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. After a detailed examination, the doctor diagnosed him with a cataract in his left eye — a condition that clouds the natural lens and reduces vision over time. To restore his sight and prevent further deterioration, the doctor recommended phacoemulsification (phaco) with Intraocular Lens (IOL) implantation. Unfortunately, her family was unable to pay for his surgery.

Ikram lived in a small, rented house with his wife and two children. As the only member of the family earning a living, he worked as a daily wage laborer and made just PKR 20,000 per month. This limited income barely covered rent, utilities, groceries, and his children’s school needs. With no savings to rely on, affording the surgery was simply impossible. Feeling helpless but not ready to give up, Ikram reached out to Transparent Hands for support. After listening to his story and reviewing his case, we registered his case.

On February 11, 2025, Ikram was admitted to Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Teaching Hospital in Multan. Dr. Asif successfully performed his Phaco + IOL surgery on February 12, 2025. Ikram was discharged in stable condition the next day.

Sharing his heartfelt gratitude, Ikram said:
“Losing my sight meant losing my ability to care for my family. Today, I can see clearly again, and it’s only because of your kindness. Thank you for giving me another chance at life.”

Now, Ikram looks forward to returning to work, fulfilling his responsibilities, and living life with new hope. He couldn’t have received this surgery without your generous support. His heart is filled with gratitude as you changed his life.
