Ayesha Noor's Story

Ayesha Noor, a 7-year-old girl from Swabi, Pakistan, had been living in a world of silence since birth. Ayesha used to remain quiet and she couldn’t even communicate for her basic needs. Concerned about her condition, her parents took her to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing some medical tests, the doctor diagnosed her with congenital sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). To allow her to hear the sounds around her, the doctor advised cochlear implant surgery. However, the surgical cost was beyond her family’s financial reach.

Ayesha lived in a small house with her joint family of nine members. Her father was unemployed and her grandfather was a daily wage laborer and earned just PKR 15000 per month. With this meager monthly income, they covered their necessities only. The cost of the cochlear implant surgery was out of reach for her family, leaving them heartbroken and worried about their daughter’s future. During this challenging time, Ayesha’s family reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us for help. Recognizing the gravity of her situation, we registered her case.

On 7th October 2024, Ayesha was admitted to Al Razi Hospital in Lahore. The surgery took place on the same day. Dr. Asim Iqbal carefully fitted the internal component of the cochlear implant, giving Ayesha a new lease on life. Ayesha was hospitalized for four days and received post-operative care. On 10th October 2024, Ayesha was discharged in satisfactory condition from the hospital.

Six weeks after the surgery, the external component of the cochlear implant was installed. Ayesha now receives speech therapy sessions to fully learn language and communication skills. Ayesha’s parents were overwhelmed with happiness and they said:

“We can’t believe Ayesha can finally hear us. It’s a miracle made possible by your kindness. We’ll be forever grateful to you. You have changed our daughter’s life.”

Your compassion has opened up the world of sounds for Ayesha, giving her a chance to enter a brighter future. Ayesha and her family are deeply thankful for your generosity.
