Usman Ali’s PDA ligation was a success
Usman Ali's Story
Usman Ali, aged 10 years, a resident of Sialkot, was suffering from recurrent chest infections since birth. Upon medical evaluation he was diagnosed to have been suffering from Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA). He was advised by his cardiologist to undergo PDA ligation. For this purpose, he was admitted to The University Of Lahore Teaching Hospital, where Dr. Salman Ahmad Shah performed PDA ligation on 15.03.2021. After four days of hospital stay Usman Ali was discharged in a satisfactory condition. The surgery was conducted with the support of Pakistan Children Heart foundation and other donors. A child who has had PDA ligation, requires lifelong care, an optimized lifestyle and examinations by a cardiologist. Luckily now Usman Ali is beyond the initial stage of treatment and is looking forward to cherishing life to its fullest.
