Tonsillectomy has Improved Farzana’s Quality of Life

Farzana, a 29-year-old resident of Karachi, has been suffering from occasional bouts of sore throat and fever for four years. Despite receiving symptomatic treatment, her condition worsened over time. Simple activities like swallowing, speaking, or even sleeping became challenging for her. After years of suffering, Farzana consulted a doctor, who conducted some diagnostic tests and an ultrasound scan. Farzana was diagnosed with chronic tonsillitis—a condition where the tonsils become inflamed and infected repeatedly, leading to ongoing pain and discomfort. The doctor recommended Tonsillectomy – the surgical removal of tonsils. However, the cost of the surgery was beyond her family’s financial means.

Farzana is a housewife and lives in a two-room rented house with her husband and three children. Her husband, a daily wage laborer, is the sole breadwinner in the family and makes just PKR 15000 per month. With this meager monthly income, affording necessities was already a struggle. However, Farzana desperately needed the surgery as she was unable to take proper care of her children.

In this moment of despair, Farzana learned about Transparent Hands and contacted us for help. We listened to her concerns and immediately stepped in to help her. The generous support of our donors enabled Farzana to receive Tonsillectomy.

The day of hope arrived. On June 28, 2024, Farzana was admitted to Murshid Hospital, Karachi. Dr. Paras Naseem performed the life-changing tonsillectomy the same day. Farzana received careful observation in the hospital and was discharged the next day on June 29, 2024.

The surgery was a success, bringing an end to Farzana’s years of suffering. Farzana expressed her emotions as follows:

“I never thought I could ever get relief from tonsillitis. But thanks to the generous donors, I’m feeling healthy now. The pain has subsided, and I can finally breathe. Your kindness has changed my life. I can’t thank you enough!”
