Romaisa Shah is a delightful four-year-old girl from Peshawar, who faced a significant obstacle in her young life due to being deaf since birth. Her parents discovered her hearing loss when she was just one year old and immediately sought medical advice. After careful consideration, the doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery as the best solution to restore Romaisa’s hearing. However, the financial burden on the family was overwhelming.
Romaisa’s father, who is the sole provider, struggled to make ends meet, making it impossible for him to cover the costly surgical expenses for his beloved daughter. In their time of desperation, Romaisa’s family turned to Transparent Hands in hopes of finding assistance for their journey toward restoring Romaisa’s hearing.
Thanks to generous donations, Romaisa Shah was admitted to Ali Medical Center, where Dr. Jawad successfully implanted the internal component of the cochlear implant on May 6, 2024. With the guidance of skilled medical professionals and the unwavering support of compassionate donors, Romaisa embarked on a journey that held the promise of reconnecting her with the world of sound and language. Over the next six weeks, the external implant will be installed, and Romaisa will undergo planned speech therapy sessions, offering her the opportunity to recognize the beauty and complexities of words and language
