Rania Batool can now live a life free of chest infections
Rania Batool's Story
Rania Batool, aged 2 from Gujranwala was experiencing repeated episodes of chest infections since birth. Upon cardiac assessment, she was diagnosed with TGA or Transposition of great Arteries. Which meant, the two main arteries carrying blood out of her heart were switched in position by birth. The cardiac surgeon recommended her to undergo atrial switch or senning procedure after open heart surgery. She was admitted to Ittefaq hospital Lahore, where Dr. Muhammad Asim Khan performed atrial switch operation on 18-02-2021. Her transposition of the great arteries was corrected by switching them to the normal position. After five days she was discharged from the hospital in a satisfactory condition. Raina is now living a life free of worries. The surgery was conducted with the support of Pakistan Children Heart foundation and other donors.
