Pakeeza Underwent Cochlear Implant Surgery Successfully
Pakeeza Nadeem 's Story
Pakeeza Nadeem, a 3-year-old resident of Lahore, had been living in silence since birth. Her parents became concerned when she couldn’t respond to voices like other kids. Worried about her condition, they took her to a local hospital for medical evaluation. After comprehensive tests, the doctor diagnosed her with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery to help her hear and speak. However, the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for Pakeeza’s family.
Pakeeza lived in a small house with her parents and three siblings. Her father, a shopkeeper, earned only PKR 30,000 per month—barely enough to cover the family’s daily expenses. With this meager monthly income, affording such an expensive surgery was beyond their means. During this time of need, Pakeeza’s parents turned to Transparent Hands for support. We registered her case and through the generous support of donors, we arranged surgery for her at a reputable hospital on our panel.
On December 19, 2024, Pakeeza was admitted to the National Hospital in Lahore. Dr. Naveed Aslam performed the surgery, successfully implanting the internal component. Pakeeza stayed in the hospital for post-operative care and was discharged the next day in stable condition.
After six weeks, the external component of the cochlear implant will be installed, allowing Pakeeza to hear for the first time. She will also begin speech therapy sessions to develop her communication skills.Pakeeza’s parents shared their overwhelming gratitude as follows:
“Your support has given our daughter a new life. We never imagined she would be able to hear one day. It feels like a miracle and a dream come true for our family. We are forever grateful for this life-changing blessing.”
Thanks to your compassion and generosity, Pakeeza’s world is changing. Your kind support has given her the chance to experience the joy of sounds. Her family extends their deepest gratitude to you for making a valuable impact on her life.
