Muhammad Talha’s Heart is Healthy Now

Muhammad Talha's Story

Muhammad Talha, a 2-year-old innocent boy from Bhakkar, had been experiencing shortness of breath, fatigue, and chest discomfort since birth. Simple activities like crying or feeding made him gasp for air. Concerned about his condition, his parents took him to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor, who conducted some lab tests, and diagnosed Talha with Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV) and Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). To repair the defect in his heart, the doctor recommended VSD closure surgery. However, the surgical cost was beyond Talha’s family’s financial means.

Without the much-needed surgery, his heart condition would have continued to worsen and become life-threatening. His parents didn’t want to lose him but their financial constraints made it impossible for them to arrange his heart surgery. Talha was living in a rented mud house with his five family members. His father, the sole breadwinner in the family, worked as a daily wage laborer and earned just PKR 28000 per month. Talha’s family was surviving in poverty and affording to pay for the surgery was impossible for them. During this dark time, they contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for assistance. Moved by their plight, we registered Talha’s case.

On August 15, 2024, Talha was admitted to the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital. The surgery was scheduled for the following day, August 16, 2024. Dr. Salman Shah skillfully managed his complex case and performed VSD Closure surgery. Talha was hospitalized for four days and received post-operative care. On 19th August 2024, he was discharged in satisfactory condition from the hospital.

Talha’s parents described their happiness as follows:

“We feel blessed to have received such amazing support during this time. You gave Talha a second chance at life. You were there for us when no one else was and gave our son a new beginning. Thanks for your generous support.”

Through the successful heart surgery, Talha can now play, laugh, and run like any other child of his age. His family is deeply grateful to you and the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation for supporting him during his time of need.
