Maryam Bibi's Story

Maryam, a 28-year-old woman from Karachi, was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her third child. Having already undergone two C-sections for childbirth, she knew that her delivery would require extra care. She went to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor, who performed a thorough examination and recommended another C-section for her child’s safety. The risks of attempting a natural delivery after two previous C-sections were too high. Therefore, her doctor decided to go for an elective C-section. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for her family.

Maryam lived in a small house with her husband and two children. Her husband, the sole breadwinner in the family, worked as a daily wage laborer and earned just PKR 20,000. With this insufficient monthly income, they barely covered their necessities. The cost of the C-section was entirely out of their financial reach and Maryam found herself in a hopeless situation. That’s when she reached out to Transparent Hands. After listening to her concerns we swiftly registered her case.

On 6th July 2024, Maryam was admitted to Murshid Hospital in Karachi. The surgery took place on the same day. Her surgery was skillfully performed by Dr. Farkhanda Saeed. The C-section was successful, and Maryam gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Maryam was hospitalized for three days. After receiving post-operative care and essential medications, she was discharged in satisfactory condition on 8th July 2024.

Maryam’s happiness was indescribable when she held her newborn in her arms for the first time. She expressed her emotions as follows:

“I had lost hope, thinking I would not be able to undergo a safe delivery. But you helped me when I had no one else to turn to. Thanks a lot for making it possible for me to live a cheerful life with my newborn.”
