Khadija Imtiaz’s ASD Closure Surgery was Successful
Khadija Imtiaz's Story
Seven-year-old Khadija Imtiaz, a resident of Bahawalpur, had been suffering from weakness, high-grade fever, and breathlessness. The doctor diagnosed her with Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) and Mitral Valve prolapse (MVP) after a consultation. The doctor advised open-heart surgery to repair the ASD and MVP. She was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital on April 2, 2022, for the procedure, which was performed by Dr. Muhammad Asim Khan. She stayed in the hospital for five days before being discharged in good health. The surgery was carried out in collaboration with Pakistan’s Children’s Heart Foundation. Khadija’s heart was saved.
