Dua Fatima's Story
Five-year-old Dua Fatima, a resident of Mianwali, was suffering from sensorineural hearing loss since birth. Her parents were unaware of her condition until she turned one. Then, they took her to a local hospital for consultation. She was diagnosed with deafness and advised to undergo Cochlear Implant Surgery upon consultation. She was admitted to Capital Hospital, Islamabad, where Dr. Jawwad Ahmed performed her operation on 23-04-2022. He installed the internal component of the cochlear implant successfully. She was discharged after three days of stay in the hospital. After six weeks, the external component of her cochlear implant was also fixed. Dua is able to hear now.
