Ayesha Bibi's Story
Ayesha Bibi, aged 22 months, a resident of Kasur was suffering from cyanosis and breathlessness on mild exertion since birth. Upon cardiac assessment, she was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). She was advised by her cardiologist to undergo open-heart surgery for total correction. For this purpose, she was admitted to The University Of Lahore Teaching Hospital Lahore, where Dr. Salman Ahmad Shah performed open-heart surgery for total correction of TOF on 19.03.2021. After one week of hospital stay, Ayesha was discharged in satisfactory condition. The surgery was conducted with the support of the Pakistan Children Heart foundation and other donors. A child who has had surgical repair of TOF, requires lifelong care, an optimized lifestyle, and examinations by a cardiologist. Luckily now Ayesha is beyond the initial stage of treatment and is looking forward to cherishing life to its fullest.
