Ali Abbas Successfully Underwent VSD Closure Surgery

Syed Ali Abbas, a 5-year-old boy from Hafizabad, had been suffering from breathlessness and chest discomfort since birth. Activities like walking a short distance or playing with his friends made him breathless. Worried about his condition, his parents took him to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed Ali with moderate Peri-Membranous Restricted VSD and Left Ventricular Volume Overload (LVVO). To correct the defects in his heart, the doctor strongly recommended VSD closure surgery. However, the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for his family.

Ali lived in a modest rented house with his parents and two school-going siblings. His father, the sole breadwinner in the family, worked as an electrician and made just PKR 15,000 per month. With this meager monthly income, it was hard for him to cover utility bills in addition to managing grocery expenses and children’s school fees. Ali’s condition was worsening day by day, but they had no choice but to feel helpless. Their financial constraints didn’t allow them to pay for Ali’s life-saving surgery. During this difficult time, Ali’s parents contacted Transparent Hands and asked for help. Recognizing the gravity of his situation, we registered his case.

On January 26, 2025, Ali Abbas was admitted to the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital. Dr. Salman performed his surgery with care and corrected the defects in his heart. Ali’s surgery went smoothly and after receiving post-operative care, he was discharged in a satisfactory condition on February 01, 2025.

Ali’s parents said in happiness:
