Adeela underwent Successful Open-Heart Surgery
Adeela Akram 's Story
Adeela Akmal, a 25-year-old resident of Bahawalpur, had been grappling with dyspnea, cyanosis, and recurring episodes of chest pain. Since her early years, Adeela’s parents have witnessed her health deteriorate, tirelessly striving to manage her condition. Concerned about her well-being, they sought medical assistance at the local hospital, where diagnostic tests revealed a Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) diagnosis. To rectify her condition, the cardiologist advised open-heart surgery for Total Correction. However, the surgery was deemed unsuitable due to her health status, and she was prescribed medication instead.
Recently, Adeela revisited the hospital, where the cardiac surgeon advised her to undergo total correction with pulmonary valve reconstruction and augmentation of pulmonary atresia (PA) with a transannular patch. Unfortunately, her family could not afford the cost of the surgery. They desperately needed financial assistance and turned to Transparent Hands at this time. The funds for the surgery were arranged successfully.
She was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore, where her operation was performed by Dr. Jamal on 10-06-2023. The surgery was a resounding success, and she was discharged from the hospital after a thirteen-day stay, much to the relief and joy of her family. She was also asked for a follow-up visit for the removal of stitching after one week. The Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation and some other generous donors helped make this surgery possible.
The surgery saved her life and opened a world of possibilities for her. With her health restored, she can enjoy her life without any restrictions. None of this would have been possible without the kindness and generosity of donors like you. Your contributions have had a profound impact, not only on her life but on her entire family. The emotional weight lifted from her parents’ shoulders, knowing their daughter has been given a chance at a healthy and prosperous future, is immeasurable. We extend our deepest gratitude to each and every donor who made this life-saving surgery possible. Donate Online to help women like Adeela.
