Zubaida Needs Your Support to Undergo a Safe C-Section
Zubaida Shams's Story
Zubaida, a 45-year-old woman from Saeedabad, Karachi, is in the 33rd week of her pregnancy. Her excitement is overshadowed by fear due to her history of two previous C-sections. She went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After a thorough medical examination, her gynecologist expressed concerns that Zubaida would need another C-section. This decision was made because attempting a natural delivery may cause various complications, putting Zubaida and her unborn child’s lives in danger. Unfortunately, the cost of the C-section is beyond her family’s financial capacity.
Without a C-section, she may face uterine rupture which can be life-threatening for both mother and baby. Other complications may include severe bleeding, placenta issues, and fetal distress.
Zubaida lives in a modest home with her husband and two school-going daughters. Her husband, the sole breadwinner in the family, is a tailor and brings in just PKR 20,000 per month. With this insufficient monthly income, they hardly manage to pay PKR 6000 for utility bills, school fees, and other living expenses. Moreover, they are also burdened with a significant loan of PKR 100,000. The family is surviving in extreme poverty and their financial hardships make it impossible for them to pay for Zubaida’s C-section. During this time of need, Zubaida contacted Transparent Hands and asked for help.
Zubaida said with teary eyes:
“My husband works to the point of exhaustion, but his income only covers our basic needs. After a long time, I have finally experienced pregnancy. I wish to hold my baby in my arms, but we don’t have enough money to pay for a C-section. Please help me and donate for my C-section.”
