Transform Halar Ahmed’s Life with Cochlear Implant Surgery

Halar Ahmed, a 4-year-old boy from Khairpur, Sindh, has been struggling to hear sounds since birth. At his age, other children are learning to speak and communicate while Halar is locked in a world of silence. Responding to his name being called, and hearing his parents’s comforting voices are beyond his reach. His parents consulted a doctor, who ran some medical tests and diagnosed him with congenital Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL). According to the doctor, the only way Halar can escape this silent world is through cochlear implant surgery. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is far beyond what his family can afford.

Halar struggles to communicate his needs and sometimes becomes frustrated and isolated due to it. Without this surgery, Halar’s future would be filled with limitations. He will continue to live in silence. The earlier Halar receives the implant, the better his chances of developing the communication skills that are so important at his age.

Halar lives in a modest hut house with his five family members. His father, the sole provider for the family, works as a daily wage laborer and earns just PKR 20,000 monthly. The family struggles to make ends meet, and barely manage the household bills and other living expenses. The financial strain has left them with no savings, and they are unable to pay for the surgery that could change their son’s life. A glimmer of hope arose when a neighbor told them about Transparent Hands.

Moved by his parent’s plea, we registered Halar’s case.

“We just want Halar to have the chance to hear, speak, and live a normal life. It breaks our hearts to see him struggle every day, and we desperately need help to give him this opportunity. We can’t afford his surgery on our own. Please help us.” said Halar’s parents, their eyes filled with tears.

Without early intervention, Halar’s future will be filled with challenges. With the cochlear implant surgery, Halar will have the opportunity to learn to speak and live a life full of sounds and possibilities.
