Support Zafar Ahmad’s Cataract Surgery
Syed Zafar Ahmad's Story
Syed Zafar Ahmad, a 70-year-old resident of Lahore, finds himself entangled in the grip of darkness caused by a cataract in his right eye. The once vibrant world has turned blurry and indistinct, and Syed Zafar Ahmad faces immense difficulty in navigating his daily life. The doctor has recommended (R) Phaco + IOL surgery to alleviate his condition and restore his vision.
Syed Zafar Ahmad works as a daily wage laborer and earns approximately 18,000 PKR per month to support himself and his family. His sons also work as daily wagers, striving to make ends meet. They live in their small three-Marla house in Lahore, with two rooms accommodating a family of six.
However, the financial strain upon the family makes it arduous for Syed Zafar Ahmad to afford the surgical expenses. The weight of responsibility rests heavily upon his shoulders, and the burden of household expenses further exacerbates their financial situation.
Syed Zafar Ahmad said in despair:
“My world has turned blurry, and every day feels like a new battle. I desperately want to see the world with clarity, to experience the beauty that surrounds me, and to take care of my dear family. During this tough time, I humbly ask for your help and support.”

Syed Zafar Ahmad's Story
Syed Zafar Ahmad, a 70-year-old man from Lahore, was suffering from short-sightedness and blurry vision. Upon consultation with a doctor, he was diagnosed with a cataract in his right eye. To restore his vision, the doctor recommended Phaco+IOL surgery. However, affording the cost of the surgery was beyond his financial abilities as he was already facing financial hardships. His family has a meager monthly income and they live in a modest home.
Zafar’s life was badly affected by his visual impairment. He used to bump into things while walking and carrying out routine tasks became significantly challenging. He desperately needed the surgery but was unable to pay for it. If left untreated, the cataract could have become worse and increased the risk of glaucoma and even blindness. During this time of need, he contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for help. After listening to his concerns, we promptly registered the case. With your support, his right Phaco + IOL surgery was performed by Dr. Shaheer at Life Hospital Lahore on 29th July 2024. He carefully removed the cloudy lens in his eye and replaced it with an artificial intraocular lens. He said, “I can’t believe I can see things now. I am grateful to you for this incredible gift.” The patient’s family is incredibly grateful to you for supporting them and making this surgery possible through Transparent Hands. Your support has brought light back into his life. Not only did you restore his vision but also allowed him to spend his life with independence and dignity. They will never forget your generosity.
