Support Tahira Parveen’s Hernioplasty
Tahira Parveen's Story
Tahira Parveen, a 39-year-old resident of Lahore, is currently enduring severe abdominal pain and swelling around her umbilicus. Seeking medical assistance, she consulted a general surgeon, who recommended further tests and an ultrasound. The results revealed a diagnosis of paraumbilical hernia, leading the doctor to advise a mesh hernioplasty procedure with lipectomy to alleviate her discomfort.
Tahira’s financial situation poses a significant obstacle to her path to recovery. Tahira is a housemaid and earns approximately PKR 30,000 per month. Her husband is a drug addict, and she is the only earning person in the family. Tahira lives in a rented house and pays PKR 6,000 per month. With a family of five children, her limited income is stretched thin, and she finds herself unable to afford the surgical expenses required for her hernioplasty.
In her distress, Tahira said:

Tahira Parveen's Story
Tahira Parveen, a 39-year-old woman from Lahore, had been suffering from pain due to a lump in her umbilical region for three years. She received symptomatic treatment but the relief was temporary only. With time, her lump increased in size and became more painful. After suffering for a while, she decided to consult a specialist, who after running an ultrasound scan and some medical tests diagnosed Tahira with a paraumbilical hernia. The doctor advised Mesh Hernioplasty with Lipectomy. However, the surgical cost was beyond Tahira’s family’s financial reach. Tahira lives in a small rented house with her husband and five children. Her husband is unemployed. She works as a housemaid and earns just PKR 30,000 per month. With this meager monthly income, she hardly covered the house rent, utility bills as well as groceries. Paying for the surgery was impossible for her as she already struggled to make ends meet. During this time of need, Tahira contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for help. After listening to her concerns, we promptly registered her case. On 3rd July 2024, Tahira was admitted to Lahore Care Hospital. The surgery took place on the same day. Dr. Ahmed Fawad performed her hernia repair surgery, alleviating her pain and preventing further complications. Tahira was hospitalized for three days and received essential care and monitoring. On 5th July 2024, she recovered and was discharged in a stable condition. Tahira said with tears of joy in her eyes: “I was so scared that I wouldn’t be able to take care of my family. The pain was unbearable, and I thought I had no options. But you gave me hope. After the surgery, I feel like I’ve been given a second chance at life. I will forever be grateful to you!” After the operation, she began to heal both physically and emotionally, regaining her strength and independence. Slowly, she returned to her daily routine without the fear of pain holding her back. We extend our heartfelt thanks to you for making her surgery possible. Your contributions not only relieved her physical pain but also restored her ability to live her life fully and continue being the strong woman her family depends on.
