Two-year-old Muhammad Fahad, a resident of Malakand, has been facing the challenges of congenital sensorineural hearing loss since a young age. His parents noticed his unresponsiveness to their voices when he turned one, prompting them to seek medical help. After undergoing tests and consultations, he was advised to undergo cochlear implant surgery—a procedure that utilizes an electronic device to stimulate his hearing nerve.

Unfortunately, his family’s financial situation, coupled with his father’s limited resources, renders them unable to bear the costs of the required surgery. This is a critical situation that needs to be addressed immediately, as delaying the surgery can lead to irreversible complications.

In a voice filled with despair, his father reached out to Transparent Hands, hoping to secure the necessary funds for his son’s surgery. Muhmmad Fahad's Story

Malik Muhammad Fahad, a 4-year-old boy from Lahore, had been experiencing hearing loss since birth. Concerned about his condition, his parents received a medical consultation. The doctor diagnosed him with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. Upon some diagnostic tests, the ophthalmologist recommended cochlear implant surgery.

Fahad's parents longed to see their son live a normal life. Unfortunately, the significant financial burden of the desperately needed surgery loomed heavily over them. Affording the costly cochlear implant surgery was challenging for them.

Determined to seek assistance for their son's well-being, his family contacted Transparent Hands to register his case.

On 28th May 2024, Fahad was admitted to Ali Medical Centre, Islamabad. Under the skilled supervision of Dr. Jawad Ahmad, the internal component of the cochlear implant was carefully inserted. He was discharged after one day of hospitalization, with new hope and anticipation.

After six weeks, the external component of the cochlear implant was fitted, enabling Fahad to embrace the symphony of sounds. He is attending regular speech therapy sessions with dedication, as it is a subsequent step to improve his speaking and listening ability.

Fahad’s parents said with tears of happiness in their eyes.
