Aiman Fatima's Story

Aiman Fatima has congenital heart disease. The doctor has told her she needs open-heart surgery, but her mother can’t pay for it because she doesn’t have enough money. Her ailing heart is taking away all the joys in her life. She cannot go to school or play actively with other girls. Her helpless mother has reached out to us after exhausting all other options. Nine-year-old Aiman, a resident of Khushab, has been suffering from cyanosis, dyspnea, and repeated episodes of chest infection. Her physical growth is also slow. Her mother learned about her condition when she was 1 year old. After running some diagnostic tests, the cardiologist diagnosed her with dextrocardia, tricuspid atresia, and pulmonary stenosis. Following angiography, the doctor advised her to have open heart surgery and a CP Shunt.

She is living in her uncle’s house with her mother, who is divorced and has no financial support. She has no income and therefore cannot pay for the surgical expenses. Her mother said with teary eyes:

“The happiness in my world and the smile on my face solely depend on my daughter’s health. I want her to live a healthy life. But, I am facing financial hardships, and I need your generous donations to help us with free cardiac surgery.”

She took her to the hospital. After running some diagnostic tests, the cardiologist diagnosed her with dextrocardia, tricuspid atresia, and pulmonary stenosis. Following angiography, the doctor advised her to undergo open heart surgery and a CP Shunt. Her mother cannot afford to pay for this costly cardiac surgery. She reached out to Transparent Hands for help. After the case registration, she was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore, where her operation was performed by Dr. Asim Khan on 9-02-2023. She was discharged from the hospital after a six-day stay.

The Pakistan Children's Heart Foundation also provided financial assistance to make her life-saving surgery possible, and she is now in stable condition.
