Sumaira Asim Awaits Cholecystectomy
Sumaira Asim's Story
Sumaira Asim, a 41-year-old woman from Lahore, has been suffering from right upper abdominal pain for many years. She also experiences nausea, and vomiting due to indigestion. Occasionally, her condition confines her to bed and she becomes unable to fulfill her role as a mother. Despite taking medicines for a long time, her condition didn’t settle down. She decided to consult a specialist who ran some diagnostic tests and an ultrasound scan and diagnosed Sumaira with symptomatic gallstones. These are hard crystal-like deposits that form in the gallbladder. To alleviate her pain and discomfort, the doctor advised open cholecystectomy. However, Sumaira’s family can’t afford to pay for her surgery.
If Sumaira doesn’t undergo the surgery soon, her health may continue to deteriorate due to poor dietary intake. Moreover, continued intake of medicines will disturb her stomach.
Sumaira is a single mother of three children and lives in a small brick house. She is the sole breadwinner in the family, works as a housemaid, and earns just PKR 20,000 per month. The death of her husband turned her world upside down and now she survives in extreme poverty. Furthermore, her medical cost is now an additional financial burden for her as she is struggling to cover even essentials. Sumaira feels helpless as she sees no way to get rid of her illness. During this time of need, Sumaira reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us to register her case.
Sumaira said in despair:
“Pain has become my daily reality. I am facing financial hardships and can’t pay for my surgery. Your support can help me overcome this challenge and live without constant suffering. I request your assistance, as it would mean a chance to regain my health and happiness.”
Sumaira awaits cholecystectomy and only you can make this a reality. Your donations can make a meaningful difference in her life. Join hands with us to make a positive impact on Sumaira’s life and enable her to undergo this surgery with hope and determination.
