Sohrab Awaits Tonsillectomy

Sohrab Dildar's Story

Sohrab, a 37-year-old man from Hyderabad, has been suffering from a sore throat for 4 years. He also faces intermittent episodes of high-grade fever, odynophagia (painful swallowing), and throat infection. It has become difficult for him to carry out his daily chores. Concerned about his condition, he went to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor, who after a thorough examination and evaluation diagnosed him with chronic tonsillitis, which is an infection of the tonsils. The doctor recommended tonsillectomy, a surgical procedure to remove the tonsils. However, the surgical cost is overwhelming for Sohrab.

Without tonsillectomy, Sohrab may continue to experience chronic throat pain, difficulty swallowing, and recurrent infections. Sohrab lives in a modest brick house with a joint family of nine members. He has set up a small grocery shop in his home and earns just PKR 15000 per month. He has five children, who are studying. With his meager monthly income, they hardly manage to pay for utility bills, educational expenses, and groceries. The surgical cost is an additional financial burden, leaving them in a desperate situation. During this challenging time, Sohrab reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us for help.

Sohrab said in despair:

“I am scared that if I don’t get the surgery soon, my health will continue to deteriorate. It will take away my ability to provide for my family, and eventually, they will suffer. All I want is to regain my health. I am counting on your kindness. Please help me get rid of this issue which has affected me for a long time.”
