Shamim Bibi's Story

Shamim Bibi, a 48-year-old resident of Jhang, found a lump in her right breast that led her on a tumultuous journey of fighting breast cancer. After a thorough evaluation, she received a devastating diagnosis from her doctor. The recommended course of action was a Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM) surgery, which was performed in January 2021. However, the cancer later spread to her ovaries, necessitating the removal of her ovaries in July 2021. Despite being on medications, a new lump appeared on her chest wall, prompting the need for further surgery.

Transparent Hands played a crucial role in Shamim’s medical journey, facilitating her Excision + Metastatic workup in August 2022. The reports were reviewed by an oncologist, who advised chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In August 2023, Shamim underwent these treatments. However, during a follow-up, she was presented with an ovarian mass and ascites. The oncologist recommended chemotherapy once again. Shamim’s medical history includes MRM, TAH, BSO, Excision, and Metastatic workup.

She lives in a small house in Jhang, with her nephew and three children. She has no financial support. Thus, she relies on her nephew, who is the sole earner in the family, making approximately 20,000/- per month as a daily wager. Her nephew has to pay utility bills amounting to PKR 3,000 along with grocery and daily expenses.  Due to her financial crisis, she struggles to afford the necessary treatment expenses.

In the face of these immense challenges, Shamim’s courage remains unwavering. She appeals to your compassionate hearts:

“Cancer has taken a toll on my life, but I refuse to surrender. I yearn to overcome this disease and be there for my children. I humbly request your support during this difficult time.”

We stand as a beacon of hope for Shamim, offering a glimmer of light in her battle against cancer. Your generous contributions can make a life-transforming difference, providing her with the financial means to access the necessary treatments. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings Shamim closer to the funds required to continue her fight against this relentless disease.

Shamim Bibi's Story

Shamim Bibi, a 48-year-old woman from Jhang, was leading a modest life in Jhang when she received devastating news. She was diagnosed with breast cancer, a disease that rapidly weakened her body and left her unable to care for her children. Shamim underwent a Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM) with the help of Transparent Hands in August 2022. Thereafter, she received chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions in 2023. On a follow-up visit, Shamim’s doctor found that she had peritoneal metastasis. Therefore, he again advised chemotherapy and radiotherapy. However, the treatment was expensive and beyond her family’s reach.

Shamim lived in her nephew's house with her three children. She was totally dependent on her nephew’s income for meeting living expenses. Her nephew was a daily wage laborer and earned just PKR 20,000 per month. The medical treatment she needed to survive was costly and beyond her reach. With no access to proper treatment, her condition worsened, and hope began to fade. She found hope when a neighbor told her about Transparent Hands. She contacted us and asked for assistance. After observing her critical situation, we promptly registered her case.

From 2nd February 2024 to 11th October 2024, Shamim received a series of chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions at the Inmol Cancer Hospital, Lahore under supervision of Dr. Sadia Sadiq, providing comfort and relief to Shamim.

Shamim said with teary eyes: “I thought my life was over. But, your support gave me the strength to fight breast cancer. I am looking forward to living a pain-free and healthy life. I am thankful to you for supporting my medical treatment.”

Today, Shamim is recovering steadily. The chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions have renewed her hope and strength. She has returned to caring for her children and is optimistic about her future. Shamim and her family are deeply grateful to you for changing Shamim’s life.
