Muhammad Amir's Story

Muhammad Amir, a lively and brave 9-year-old boy from Lakki Marwat, KPK, has fought valiantly from birth against a serious cardiac ailment. Although Amir’s parents have shown him unconditional love and support, his future remains uncertain due to the significant financial problems his family must overcome to receive the urgent surgical intervention he requires.

Amir’s ailment was noticed not long after he was born and has since resulted in severe dyspnea and chronic chest discomfort. Amir’s healthcare providers have advised two critical procedures—a mitral valve replacement and coarctation of the aorta repair—to address the potentially fatal consequences of his cardiac condition after he underwent several diagnostic tests and examinations. Sadly, despite their best efforts, Amir’s family is unable to cover the exorbitant expense of these life-saving procedures. He lives in a rented house with his parents. He is the only child of his parents.

His father works in a private office and just earns PKR 30,000 in income each month, Amir’s father is the only provider for the family. This is insufficient to pay for their basic living needs, which include PKR 3,000 in energy bills and PKR 8,000 in rent. With these monthly expenses, his father felt helpless to help his son.

Amir’s father contacted Transparent Hands as they see was a light of hope at this extremely difficult and painful time for their beloved child.

“We are desperate to save our son’s life, but the financial burden is simply too much for us to bear,”

Amir’s father cries in the story. We beg you to help us provide Amir with another chance at life. Amir’s time is running out, and the clock is ticking.

We can make sure that this intelligent young boy gets the necessary medical care that he deserves with your kind assistance. Your contribution, no matter how tiny, may have a huge impact on Amir’s struggle for survival and pursue his dreams.

Muhammad Amir's Story

Muhammad Amir, a 9-year-old boy from Laki Marwat, KPK, had been suffering from breathlessness and chest discomfort since birth. Amir looked frail and couldn’t participate in physical activities like other kids of his age. His parents took him to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor who conducted some medical tests and diagnosed Amir with Mitral Regurgitation (MR) +Coarctation of the Aorta (CoA). To allow his heart to function normally, the doctor advised coarctation repair and mitral valve replacement surgery. However, the surgical cost was beyond his family’s financial capacity.

Amir lived in a rented mud house with his eight family members. His father is an employee in a private company and earns just PKR 30,000 per month. This income was insufficient to cover their house rent, utility bills as well as groceries. With every breath Amir took, his parents were heartbroken, knowing that their beloved son was struggling. Due to their financial hardships, Amir’s father could not imagine how he would ever afford the surgery that could save his son's life. In this dark moment, a neighbor told him about Transparent Hands. He turned to us, asked for help, and we registered his case.

On August 11, 2024, Amir was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. The surgery was scheduled for the following day, August 12, 2024. Dr. Asim Khan skillfully managed his complex case and performed mitral valve replacement and coarctation of the aorta repair. Amir was hospitalized for six days and received post-operative care. On 18th August 2024, he was discharged in satisfactory condition from the hospital.

Amir’s parents were overwhelmed with happiness and they said:

"When our child needed help, we couldn’t do anything due to our financial hardships. But you stepped in and made sure everything was taken care of. We are thankful to you for supporting Amir. You truly saved his life.”

The road to recovery was long, but Amir’s life has been saved and his future is secure and healthy now. We are immensely grateful to you and the Pakistan Children's Heart Foundation for helping Amir and saving his life.
