Hafsa Tehreem's Story

Meet Hafsa Tehreem, a 10-year-old brave girl from Rajanpur, who has been experiencing breathlessness and chest discomfort since birth. She’s also suffering from a poor appetite and slow growth. Concerned about her health, her parents consulted a doctor. After running some diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed her with Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) and Right ventricular volume overload (RVVO). Atrial Septal Defect is an abnormal opening in the wall dividing the upper heart chambers. The doctor advised ASD closure surgery to save her life.

Hafsa studies in a school and faces extreme difficulty focusing on her studies. She is battling a serious heart condition. Hafsa has become weak and even mild to moderate physical activity causes extreme fatigue. Her parents long to give her a bright future, but they don’t have the financial ability to pay for the costly cardiac surgery. She lives in a two-room rented house with her five family members. Her father is a teacher and earns PKR 70,000 per month. With a monthly rent of PKR 7000 and utility bills averaging PKR 2000, they barely make ends meet. In addition, they have a staggering loan of PKR  2,200,000, leaving them with no option to pay for Hafsa’s surgery.

A glimmer of hope arose when a neighbor told them about Transparent Hands. They swiftly registered her case and asked us for help.

Hina’s parents said with tear-filled eyes:

“We feel helpless when we see her struggle. We’re unable to get her the life-saving treatment she needs. She is our joy and light. We dream of the day when she can run and play like other kids. Kindly help us overcome this situation.”

Instead of running, playing, and laughing with other children, Hafsa often sits quietly, unable to join in. Her heart needs mending. Your contribution can be the difference between a life filled with limitations and a future where she can laugh, live, and grow like other kids.

Consider donating today to give her a second chance at life.

Hafsa Tehreem's Story

Hafsa Tehreem, a 10-year-old girl from Rajanpur, had been suffering from shortness of breath and chest discomfort since birth. She was not growing properly and even mild to moderate physical activity left her gasping for air. Her parents took her to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed her with Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) and Right Ventricular Volume Overload (RVVO) and recommended ASD closure surgery. For Hafsa’s family, the cost of the surgery was unaffordable.

Hafsa's parents wished to heal her heart, but their financial constraints prevented them from doing so. Hafsa lived in a small rented house with her five family members. Her father, the sole breadwinner in the family, was a teacher and earned just enough to cover basic needs. The financial strain of house rent, utility bills, as well as educational expenses already weighed heavily over them. Hafsa’s life-saving surgery was expensive and they were unable to pay for it. During this challenging time, Hafsa’s parents decided to contact Transparent Hands and asked us for assistance. Moved by their plea, we registered her case.

On 16th September 2024, Hafsa was admitted to the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital.  Hafsa received pre-operative care and surgery was scheduled for 18th September 2024. Dr. Faiz Rasool performed her ASD closure surgery to correct Hafsa’s heart defect. After the surgery, Hafsa was hospitalized for five days and received post-operative care and critical monitoring. On 22nd September 2024, Hafsa was discharged in stable condition from the hospital.

Hafsa’s parents said with tears of happiness:

“After years of struggle, it's unbelievable to see Hafsa in a healthy condition.  We had given up hope, but this surgery changed everything. Now, our daughter can spend her life without any discomfort and breathlessness. The happiness we feel is overwhelming and it’s all thanks to your generosity.”

Hafsa is recovering and she is hopeful to live, laugh, and grow like other children. You have given her a life she never thought possible. Her family is immensely grateful to you and the Pakistan Children's Heart Foundation for making a considerable change in her life.
