Fatima Sarfaraz's Story

Fatima Sarfraz, a 1-year-old girl from Lahore, has been struggling with severe breathlessness and cyanosis since birth. Her parents noticed these troubling symptoms and decided to take her to the doctor. After a series of tests and examinations, Fatima’s doctor diagnosed her with TGA (Transposition of the Great Arteries), IVS (Interventricular Septum), and a regressed left ventricle. These are serious congenital heart conditions that disrupt normal blood flow, causing oxygen-poor blood to circulate throughout the body. Her doctor has recommended an open heart surgery for Senning procedure to save her life. However, the surgery is costly, and her family is unable to afford the medical expenses.

Without surgery, Fatima’s condition will continue to deteriorate. Her ability to breathe normally will remain compromised, affecting her overall health and development. If left untreated, the complications from her heart condition may lead to irreversible damage or even become life-threatening.

Fatima lives with her parents and three older siblings in a rented house. Her father works as a school teacher and is the sole breadwinner of the family, earning a modest monthly income of PKR 40,000. The family faces numerous financial challenges, as they must pay PKR 15,000 in house rent, PKR 4000 in utility bills, and PKR 7000 in educational expenses for their older children. Despite their best efforts, the cost of Fatima’s surgery is simply beyond their means. During this difficult time, Fatima’s parents have turned to Transparent Hands for help.

Fatima’s parents said in despair:

“We can’t bear to see our little girl struggle every day. Her breathlessness and constant pain have made it hard for her to play or even breathe normally.  Every day, we watch her suffer, and it breaks our hearts. Please help us.”

Every moment without surgery is a risk to Fatima’s life and future, and her parents are desperate to see her grow up happy and healthy. With your contributions, Fatima can undergo life-saving surgery and breathe easily.

Let’s join hands to give Fatima the gift of a healthy future, so she can live a life free from pain and breathe with ease. Come forward and donate now!

Fatima Sarfaraz's Story

Fatima Sarfaraz, a one-year-old girl from Lahore, had been suffering from shortness of breath and chest discomfort since birth. Her tiny body struggled to keep up with even mild to moderate physical activity. Furthermore, she faced cyanosis which means her skin and lips often took on a bluish color. Her parents noticed these troubling symptoms and took her to a local hospital. After performing a series of tests and examinations, the doctor diagnosed Fatima with TGA (Transposition of the Great Arteries), IVS (Interventricular Septum), and a regressed left ventricle. To heal her heart, her doctor advised her to undergo open-heart surgery for Senning procedure. Unfortunately, her family was unable to pay for the surgery.

Fatima lived in a modest rented house with her parents and three school-going siblings. Her father, the family's sole breadwinner, worked as a school teacher and earned only PKR 40,000 per month. Their household expenses including utility bills, house rent, and children’s school fees took a significant portion of their income. They were left with no savings at all for Fatima’s life-saving heart surgery. Fatima’s birth had filled her parents’ hearts with immense joy, but their happiness quickly turned into worry when they learned she had a heart condition. Facing financial hardships, they realized they couldn’t afford the surgery she desperately needed. During this challenging time, they turned to Transparent Hands and asked for help.

On January 30, 2025, Fatima was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. On January 31, 2025, Dr. Asim successfully performed the surgery and gave Fatima a new lease on life. After receiving necessary post-operative care, Fatima was discharged in satisfactory condition on February 05, 2025.

Fatima’s parents said with happiness: “Fatima’s condition was worsening day by day, and we had no option but to be patient and wait for a miracle. Your support came at the perfect time. Our daughter’s heart is healthy now. We are deeply thankful to you for your kindness and generosity.”

Fatima can now play, and laugh like other kids of her age. Fatima’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to you and the Pakistan Children's Heart Foundation for significantly changing her life. Your contributions gave Fatima a second chance at life.
