Restore Shahida’s Eyesight with Cataract Surgery
Shahida Ashok's Story
Shahida Ashok, a 60-year-old woman from Hyderabad, has been struggling with blurry and dim vision in her right eye for the past year. Once an independent and active woman, she now finds it difficult to perform even simple tasks. Walking around her home and even recognizing the faces of her loved ones have become a daily challenge. Worried about her condition, she went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed her with a cataract in her right eye. To treat this issue, her doctor advised right Phaco + IOL surgery. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for her family.
Without timely treatment, Shahida’s condition will deteriorate. It may lead to complete loss of vision in her right eye. The thought of losing her sight fills her heart with fear.
Shahida lives in a small house with her daughter and son. Her son is the sole breadwinner, working as a laborer to support their household. Despite his hard work, he earns only PKR 20,000 per month, which barely covers their daily expenses. With no savings and no extra income, affording Shahida’s surgery is beyond their reach. They struggle to make ends meet, often having to choose between putting food on the table and paying for other essential needs.
With tears in her eyes, Shahida said:
“I am trapped in darkness. My world is fading before me, and I fear that one day, I won’t be able to see at all. My son works hard to support us, but he cannot afford my treatment. I don’t want to be a burden on him. All I wish for is to see my children’s faces clearly again. Please help me regain my sight.”
