Restore Eshaal Fatima’s Ability to Hear
Eshaal Fatima's Story
Living in a small town of Bhakkar, Eshaal Fatima, a 1-year-old little girl, has been unable to hear since birth. They consulted with a doctor about her hearing impairment. The doctor diagnosed her with sensorineural hearing loss and recommended cochlear implant surgery to enable her to hear. Eshaal’s condition shook her parents severely when they found out about her congenital deafness. Eshaal struggles to hear her parents’ voices. Her unresponsiveness to sounds makes them sad.
Despite their immense love for their daughter, Eshaal’s parents can’t afford the surgical expenses. They live in a one-room brick house in Bhakkar. Eshaal’s father, the sole breadwinner in the family, works as a daily wage laborer. His monthly income is just PKR 30,000 which is insufficient to cover the expenses of their six family members. Furthermore, the family is burdened with a loan of 300,000, making the financial situation worse. The estimated cost of the surgery, which is over two million rupees, is beyond their financial means. However, they long to give Eshaal a bright future filled with endless opportunities.
“We wish she could hear our voices and respond to sounds,” Eshaal’s parents said with teary eyes. “We don’t want her to miss out on any opportunity due to her hearing impairment. We desperately need your help.”

Eshaal Fatima's Story
Little Eshaal Fatima, a 1-year-old girl from Bhakkar, had been struggling to hear the sounds since birth. Eshaal never responded to her name and couldn’t listen to her siblings' laughter and her mother's soothing voice. Concerned about her condition, her parents received a consultation from a doctor, who performed a thorough examination and diagnosed her with congenital sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). This news stunned her parents. To enable her to hear and speak, the doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery. However, Eshaal’s parents didn’t have the financial capacity to pay for her surgery. Eshaal was living in a small rented house with her five family members. Her father is the sole breadwinner in the family and his meager monthly income covers their essentials only. With the burden of house rent alongside the cost of utility bills and groceries, they had no room left for savings to pay for Eshaal’s surgery. After struggling for a while, Eshaal’s parents learned about Transparent Hands and requested our help. Recognizing the importance of cochlear implant surgery on Eshaal’s quality of life, we registered her case. On 26th July 2024, Eshaal was admitted to GIMS Hospital in Gambat. The surgery took place on 27th July 2024. Dr. Maqbool Ahmed implanted the internal component of the cochlear device. The surgery went successfully and Eshaal recovered. Just one day after receiving post-operative care, she was discharged on 28th July 2024. Her surgery filled Eshaal’s parents with joy and new hope. Six weeks after the surgery, the external component of the cochlear implant was carefully installed. To navigate the world around her and to improve her language and communication skills, Eshaal regularly receives speech therapy sessions. Her parents shared with tears of joy in their eyes: “We never imagined that she would ever be able to hear us. Now we can’t believe it when we watch her respond to sounds around her. You turned this distant dream into reality. We don’t know how to express our happiness. We are incredibly thankful to you for changing Eshaal’s life.” Eshaal is now on her way towards learning and discovering a new world filled with marvelous sounds. Her future is filled with opportunities and she can thrive in life. Her family is thankful for the help they received from you. You made a significant impact on Eshaal’s life.
