Relieve Abida Saleem’s Gallbladder Pain
Abida Saleem's Story
Abida Saleem, a 43-year-old woman from Karachi, has been suffering from pain in her upper right abdominal region for a month. She also faces repeated episodes of nausea, vomiting, and intolerance to fatty meals. Sometimes, her condition becomes so overwhelming that it leaves her extremely fatigued, forcing her to stay in bed for hours. Concerned about her condition, she went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing an ultrasound scan as well as some lab tests, the doctor diagnosed Abida with Cholelithiasis – the formation of hard mineral deposits in the gallbladder. To alleviate her pain, the doctor advised laparoscopic cholecystectomy. However, the cost of the surgery is out of their financial reach.
If left untreated, her condition may lead to serious health issues such as gallbladder infection (cholecystitis), bile duct obstruction, pancreatitis, or even permanent damage to internal organs. The longer the surgery is delayed, the greater the risk to her health and well-being.
Abida lives in a small home with her husband and eight children, two of whom are living with polio. Among the remaining six children, four are currently pursuing their education, with a monthly school fee of PKR 3,500. Her husband, who teaches the Holy Quran at a madrasa and also provides private tuition, earns a monthly income of PKR 50,000. With this limited amount, they barely manage utility bills of PKR 4,500 and all other household expenses including food, medication, and the special needs of their children with disabilities. With no savings to rely on, affording the cost of the surgery is simply not possible for them.
Abida shared her pain in these words:
“I try to stay strong for my children, but the pain becomes unbearable. I just want to feel better, so I can look after my family and be there for my children, especially the ones who need me most. Kindly help me get the much-needed treatment.”
Your support can bring Abida much-needed relief from her constant suffering. Let’s stand together and help her regain her health and strength, so she can continue to care for her children. Your generosity can be the reason she smiles again.
