Panna, a fifty four years old resident of Karachi, has been suffering from loss of sight and discomfort in her right eye for the last six months. Due to discomfort and pain she was taken to a hospital for consultation. The doctor gave her symptomatic treatment for relief but it did not work well for her and her eyesight deteriorated badly. Upon consultation she was diagnosed with right eye Cataract. Panna lives with her husband, their son and his family. Her son works as a laborer and is the sole earner of the family without any other financial assistance. In such circumstances it was already very difficult for him to manage everyday expenses. He was struggling to provide for his family with the most basic necessities. Now that his mother has fallen prey to this disease, he is in distress.

Panna is now advised to undergo a right eye Phaco with foldable IOL. But, due to less income and no other financial resources, she cannot afford the surgery. A neighbour told Panna’s husband about Transparent Hands. We have now registered her case. She shared her distress with Transparent Hands in the following manner:

Panna, a 54-year-old resident of Karachi, had been suffering from a Bilateral Eye cataract for the last seven months. Upon consultation, she was advised to undergo Phaco with IOL Placement for both eyes, one after another. Panna was sent to Patel Hospital to get her first, right eye surgery done by Dr. Jamal Mughal on 20-12-2021. Panna was discharged on the same day in a satisfactory condition.
