Meet Muhammad Yousaf, a 57-year-old man from Lahore, who is facing difficulty in seeing his surroundings. His vision has become cloudy and dim. He went to a doctor and was diagnosed with a cataract in his left eye. The doctor recommended Phaco+ IOL surgery to treat the cataract.

Once, Yousaf was a pillar for his family, but now his life is marked by the challenges caused by cataract. His deteriorating eyesight has taken away his ability to work and provide for his family. Yousaf’s ability to do basic tasks such as reading the newspaper, watching television, and crossing the streets has been significantly compromised.

Yousaf wishes to see the world and navigate his surroundings. He can’t see the faces of his children and this makes him disappointed. Due to financial constraints, he can’t afford to undergo the necessary cataract surgery. Yousaf lives in a small two-room brick house along with his wife and five children. His son, the sole breadwinner in the entire family, works in a factory and earns PKR 40,000 per month. The entire family relies upon his insufficient income and hardly makes ends meet. Due to the financial hardships faced by them, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for the family.

In this dire situation, Yousaf’s family reached out to Transparent Hands to register his case.

Yousaf expressed his heartfelt plea as follows:

“I feel hopeless when I think about my condition. I am not even able to provide for my family. If I don’t undergo the necessary treatment, my vision will deteriorate further. I need help. Will you support me in this time of need?”
