Muhammad Waqas's Story

Muhammad Waqas, a 38-year-old man from Lahore, has been suffering from upper abdominal pain for three years. His condition is accompanied by nausea and vomiting. He has been receiving symptomatic treatment from a homeopathic doctor for three years, his condition hasn’t improved. Due to the pain, he struggles to get through the day and becomes tired and weak.

He consulted a doctor about his deteriorating health condition. The doctor conducted some diagnostic tests and an ultrasound scan and diagnosed Waqas with symptomatic Gallstones, which are hard crystal-like deposits that form in the gallbladder. The doctor recommended cholecystectomy to remove his gallbladder and alleviate the pain and other symptoms that come with this condition. However, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for Waqas.

Waqas can’t digest fatty meals and he always has a fear of another episode of pain and vomiting after eating. If his condition is left untreated, his health will continue to deteriorate. Continued intake of painkillers will disturb his stomach and badly affect his quality of life.

Waqas lives in a modest brick house with his wife and a child. He works in a jewelry shop and brings in just PKR 30,000 monthly. He is the family’s sole breadwinner and barely manages to pay PKR 5000 per month for utility bills. He has already spent a significant amount on his medical treatment and now there are no savings left to pay for his much-needed surgery. After struggling for a while, Waqas found Transparent Hands and asked us for help.

“This pain is unbearable, and the thought of not being able to support my loved ones terrifies me. I just want to get rid of this pain and live a healthy life, but I don’t have enough money to afford the surgery. Kindly support me,”

Waqas said, his voice filled with concern.

This surgery will enable Waqas to regain his health and return to the happy life he once had.

Muhammad Waqas's Story

Muhammad Waqas, a 38-year-old man from Lahore, had been experiencing recurrent episodes of gastric pain for three years. His condition was accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and indigestion of fatty meals. Despite receiving symptomatic treatment, his condition worsened over time. After suffering for a while, he consulted a specialist. The doctor performed some lab tests and an ultrasound scan and diagnosed him with symptomatic gallstones - the formation of crystal-like deposits in the gallbladder. To alleviate his discomfort, the doctor advised cholecystectomy. However, the cost of the surgery was beyond his financial reach.

If his condition had been left untreated, his quality of life could have been badly affected. Living in a small brick house with his wife and one child, he hardly made ends meet. He worked at a jeweler’s shop and earned just PKR 30,000 per month. His family was dependent upon him and Waqas was terrified of what would happen next if he couldn’t get the surgery. That’s when Transparent Hands stepped in to help Waqas. The generosity of our donors enabled us to arrange surgery for him at one of our panel hospitals.

On 9th September 2024, Waqas was admitted to Lahore Care Hospital. The surgery took place on the same day. His open cholecystectomy was performed by an experienced surgeon, Dr. Ahmed Fawad. After receiving post-operative care and essential medications, Waqas was discharged from the hospital in stable condition on 11th September 2024.

After taking a sigh of relief, Waqas said:

“My daily life was a struggle and I was scared to lose my ability to work and provide for my family. But your support came at the perfect time. You allowed me to have a healthy life once again. I can’t thank you enough for your generosity. You changed my life and I am grateful for it.”

Waqas is no longer in pain and he is free from the fear of repeated bouts of nausea and vomiting. He can eat anything and continue to live his life with new hope and resilience.

Waqas and his family are deeply grateful to you for making a real difference in his life.
