Muhammad Iqbal's Story

Meet Muhammad Iqbal, a 66-year-old man from Lahore, who is experiencing cloudy and dim vision due. He went to a doctor to get his eyes checked and was diagnosed with a cataract in his right eye. The cataract has made his routine tasks challenging and he struggles to navigate his surroundings. Iqbal misses the time when he could navigate his surroundings independently. Due to his visual impairment, his life has become miserable. The doctor has advised Phaco + IOL surgery to restore his vision.

Iqbal is facing a lot of difficulty in performing visual tasks. The colors may appear less vibrant. He often falls while walking as he can’t see the obstacles or changes in elevation. His deteriorating eye vision has made him dependent upon his family and he needs assistance for every task he does. The significant cost of the surgery is overwhelming for him. Iqbal’s life is filled with grief and disappointments. He has four children but they live in their separate houses and don’t support Iqbal financially. Due to his diminished sight, he cannot provide for his family. His wife works as a housemaid and earns just PKR 14000.

Iqbal lives in a one-room rented house with his wife. With the insufficient monthly income, they barely cover the house rent amounting to PKR 6000, the cost of utility bills totaling PKR 2000, and other daily living expenses. Due to their financial hardships, they can’t afford the cost of the much-needed surgery.

Iqbal said with tears in his eyes:

“All I want is to see the world again. My children can’t support me and I am unable to work due to my diminished sight. My wife works really hard but the money she makes isn’t enough to pay for my surgery. Kindly help me to regain my clear vision.”

Transparent Hands has registered his case and is committed to helping him in this challenging time. Iqbal is living a miserable life and he needs your support to undergo the surgery.

Muhammad Iqbal's Story

Muhammad Iqbal a 66-year-old man from Lahore, was suffering from short-sightedness and blurry vision. Upon consultation with a doctor, he was diagnosed with a cataract in his right eye. To restore his vision, the doctor recommended Phaco+IOL surgery. However, affording the cost of the surgery was beyond his financial abilities as he was already facing financial hardships. His family has a meager monthly income and they live in a modest home.

Iqbal’s life was badly affected by his visual impairment. He used to bump into things while walking and carrying out routine tasks became significantly challenging. He desperately needed the surgery but was unable to pay for it. If left untreated, the cataract could have become worse and increased the risk of glaucoma and even blindness. During this time of need, he contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for help. After listening to his concerns, we promptly registered the case.

His right Phaco+ IOL surgery was performed by Dr. Shaheer on 20th August 2024. This life-changing procedure took place at Life Hospital, Lahore. Iqbal said, “I can now spend the remaining years of my life with independence. Thank you for helping me!”

The patient’s family is incredibly grateful to you for supporting them and making this surgery possible through Transparent Hands.
