Muhammad Afzal’s Plea for Cataract Surgery
Muhammad Afzal Butt's Story
Due to a cataract in his right eye, 65-year-old Muhammad Afzal Butt of Lahore finds himself in a difficult situation. His vision has been significantly affected by this eye condition, making even the most basic chores extremely difficult.
Along with his wife and three small children, Afzal rents a small house in Lahore. Afzal’s son, who works in a factory and makes PKR 35,000 a month, is the family’s only provider. But even with that small sum, it hardly covers the basic expenses of the household, such as PKR 3,000 for utilities and PKR 8,000 for rent each month.
The inability of Afzal to work due to his health has resulted in an increased financial burden for the family. To treat the cataract in his right eye, the doctor has recommended that he have a Phaco IOL surgery, but the expense of the treatment is still prohibitive.
Afzal said the following words in a low tone:
“All I want is to see my family’s faces again.” I feel confused and powerless since I have to fight my deteriorating vision all the time. Your kindness would be my lifesaver, enabling me to see again and take care of my loved ones the way I used to.”
Transparent Hands has taken up Afzal’s case, and we humbly ask the kind people in our community to step up and provide him with their support. Your kind contributions have the potential to significantly improve Afzal’s life by enabling him to get the vital medical attention he needs and restore his vision.
Your generosity could serve as the lighthouse that points Muhammad Afzal in the direction of a better future in which he can once again actively engage in his family’s lives and improve their quality of life.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
Muhammad Afzal Butt's Story
Muhammad Afzal Butt, a 65-year-old man from Lahore, was suffering from short-sightedness and blurry vision. Upon consultation with a doctor, he was diagnosed with a cataract in his right eye. To restore his vision, the doctor recommended Phaco+IOL surgery. However, affording the cost of the surgery was beyond his financial abilities as he was already facing financial hardships. His family has a meager monthly income and they live in a modest home.
Afzal’s life was badly affected by his visual impairment. He used to bump into things while walking and carrying out routine tasks became significantly challenging. He desperately needed the surgery but was unable to pay for it. If left untreated, the cataract could have become worse and increased the risk of glaucoma and even blindness. During this time of need, he contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for help. After listening to his concerns, we promptly registered the case. With your contributions, on 29th July 2024, Afzal’s right Phaco + IOL surgery was performed by Dr. Shaheer at Life Hospital Lahore. After the surgery, Afzal’s heart is filled with new hope, and is now reclaiming his life. He said, “I can go out now without the fear of bumping into obstacles. Your generosity can never be forgotten.” The patient’s family is incredibly grateful to you for supporting them and making this surgery possible through Transparent Hands. Your support has brought light back into his life. Not only did you restore his vision but also allowed him to spend his life with independence and dignity. They will never forget your generosity.
