Motshi Awaits Cyst Surgery
Motshi Johnson's Story
Motshi Johnson, a 30-year-old woman from Lahore, has been suffering from severe pain in her genital area, accompanied by the sensation of a lump for one year. This condition has significantly affected her daily activities, making even routine tasks like walking, sitting, and performing household tasks difficult. Motshi went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor, who performed a thorough examination and diagnosed her with a left Bartholin cyst. It is a condition where a gland in the genital area becomes blocked and swollen, causing significant pain. The doctor recommended Marsupialization of the cyst, a surgical procedure to drain the cyst and relieve the symptoms. However, Motshi’s family cannot afford the cost of the surgery due to their limited income.
The constant discomfort limits Motshi’s ability to focus on her work and responsibilities, leaving her physically drained. If Motshi does not receive the surgery, the cyst may continue to grow, causing worsening pain and increasing the risk of an abscess or infection. This will lead to severe complications, including long-term health issues.
Motshi lives in a rented house with her four family members. Her father, the sole breadwinner of the family, works as an electrician, earning PKR 35,000 per month. This income is barely enough to cover their house rent of PKR 10,000 and daily expenses. Motshi’s much-needed surgery is expensive and their financial hardships make it challenging for them to pay for it. With time, Motshi’s condition is worsening and her family is worried. During this time of need, they reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for assistance.
Motshi shared her plea as follows:
“The pain is unbearable, and I fear it will only get worse. My father works so hard to provide for us, but we just can’t afford this surgery. I want to be free from this pain and live a healthy life again. I request you to please help me.”
