Mishal Awaits Speech Therapy
Mishal Aqeel's Story
Mishal Aqeel, a 2-year-old girl from Rajanpur, was unable to respond to the sounds. Concerned about her condition, her parents took her to a local hospital, where she was diagnosed with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. The only way for her to experience sounds was through cochlear implant surgery. With the help of Transparent Hands, Mishal underwent the surgery in December 2024. She has now started to hear sounds, but she is unfamiliar with them and does not yet know how to recognize or respond to them. Her doctor has strongly recommended speech therapy to help her understand sounds and communicate. Unfortunately, her family cannot afford the cost of these essential therapy sessions.
If Mishal does not receive speech therapy, she may struggle to communicate, leaving her isolated despite the successful cochlear implant surgery. Moreover, she may miss the critical period for speech development, making it difficult for her to interact with the world around her.
Mishal lives in a modest home with her four family members Her father, a police constable, is the sole breadwinner of the family. Despite his hard work, his income is just enough to cover their basic needs. With limited resources, they cannot manage the expenses of speech therapy, leaving Mishal’s progress at risk. During this time of need, Mishal contacted Transparent Hands and asked for help.
Mishal’s family expressed their heartfelt plea as follows:
“We are grateful that she received her cochlear implant surgery, but she still needs your help to speak. We want to communicate with her and see her talk like other children. Please help our daughter in receiving speech therapy.”
Mishal’s future depends on your kindness. Your generosity can help her receive the much-needed speech therapy for a year to recognize words, express her emotions, and connect with her loved ones.
