Mehwish Bibi's Story

Mehwish Bibi, a 34-year-old woman from Lahore, has spent her entire life experiencing shortness of breath and chest pain. For years, she suffered from these symptoms without understanding the cause. Simple activities like climbing stairs or performing daily tasks left her breathless and fatigued. It wasn’t until a recent medical check-up that she finally discovered the truth behind her suffering. After undergoing diagnostic tests, Mehwish was diagnosed with Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), a congenital heart condition where a hole in the wall between the heart’s upper chambers disrupts proper blood flow. The doctor has advised an ASD closure surgery. However, the cost of the surgery is out of her financial reach.

Without this surgery, Mehwish’s condition will worsen over time. It may lead to irreversible damage, putting her life at significant risk.

Mehwish lives in a rented house with her husband and four children. Her husband has a private job and earns only PKR 50,000 per month. A large portion of their income goes toward rent which costs them PKR 18,000 every month, along with PKR 7000 for their children’s education and PKR 4000 for utility bills. These monthly expenses and the burden of supporting a large household leave them with little to no savings. The high cost of Mehwish’s heart surgery is beyond their means, leaving them feeling helpless and overwhelmed.

Despite her struggles, Mehwish remains hopeful for a healthier future, where she can care for her family without being held back by her condition. Mehwish contacted Transparent Hands and asked for help.

With teary eyes, Mehwish shared her plea as follows:
“I have lived with this pain for so long, but now I know there is a solution. My family needs me, and I want to live a healthy life for them. But we cannot afford the surgery. Please, help me undergo the necessary treatment.”

Mehwish’s recovery depends on your generosity. With your support, she can receive this life-saving surgery. She looks forward to a healthier future with her family.

Let’s join hands and be a miracle during Mehwish’s time of need.
