Let’s Make Saima’s Heart Healthy and Strong
Saima Bibi's Story
Saima Bibi, a 13-year-old girl from Dera Ghazi Khan, has been battling with breathlessness and chest discomfort since birth. Saima’s parents took her to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor who performed a detailed examination and diagnosed Saima with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). It’s a heart defect consisting of four specific heart abnormalities. Saima faces significant challenges while taking part in physical activities due to difficulty breathing, cyanosis, and a tendency to get tired easily. The condition has led to slow weight gain and physical growth, potentially impacting her overall development and self-esteem. To repair the defects in her heart, the doctor advised open-heart surgery for total correction. However, the surgical cost is beyond her family’s financial means.
Saima is not growing like other girls of her age and her condition is draining her physically and emotionally. If she doesn’t get the surgery soon, her condition will worsen over time and she may not be able to beat the disease.
Saima lives in a small rented house with her six family members. Her father and brother work at a small bakery shop and bring in just PKR 25000 per month. With this meager monthly income, it’s hard for them to manage the house rent, utility bills as well as expenses of groceries. Saima’s life-saving surgery is expensive and her parents are unable to do anything for her. Since birth, this disease has affected her quality of life. The delay in her surgery is due to their financial limitations. Now, her condition has worsened and she is struggling to survive each day of her life. Saima’s parents, filled with worries and a glimmer of hope in their hearts, contacted Transparent Hands and asked for help.
Saima’s parents said in grief:
“Facing each day has become hard for our daughter. We hold on to the hope of recovery. We hardly cover our basic needs and this expensive surgery is something that we can’t afford. With your support, we believe Saima can overcome her heart disease. Kindly save our daughter’s life.”
Your support will mean a chance for her to live fully. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a significant impact on her life. Let’s join hands to correct Saima’s heart defects and give her a second chance at life.
