Let’s Heal Khadija’s Heart
Khadija Bibi's Story
Khadija, a 2-year-old girl from Charsadda, KPK, has been suffering from shortness of breath, persistent fatigue, poor weight gain, and episodes of chest discomfort. Worried about her worsening condition, her parents took her to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a comprehensive examination and evaluation, the doctor identified the root cause of her symptoms as ALCAPA (Anomalous Left Coronary Artery from the Pulmonary Artery), a rare congenital heart defect, along with severe LV (Left Ventricular) dysfunction. To save her life and improve her quality of life, the doctor has advised open heart surgery for ALCAPA repair. However, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for Khadija’s family.
Activities like crying or feeding make Khadija breathless and her skin and lips often turn blue. If left untreated, Khadija may face immense challenges, including irreversible heart damage, worsening symptoms, and a significantly reduced life expectancy. Timely surgery is necessary to prevent these complications and give her the chance to lead a healthy life.
Khadija lives in a modest rented house with her seven family members. Her father works as a daily wage laborer, earning a monthly income of just PKR 15,000, barely enough to cover the family’s basic needs. The high cost of Khadija’s surgery is far beyond their financial means. Her parents are overwhelmed with worry and hope for a miracle that can save their daughter. During this challenging time, a well-wisher told Khadija’s parents about Transparent Hands. They contacted us and asked us to register her case.
Khadija’s parents shared their plea with tears in their eyes as follows:
“We cannot bear to see our little girl suffer like this. Every day, her health seems to worsen, and we feel helpless. We don’t want to lose her but can’t afford to pay for her life-saving surgery. Kindly support our daughter’s surgery and give her a second chance at life.”
We have registered Khadija’s case and are determined to help her undergo the much-needed surgery. Your support can give this little girl a new lease on life and bring hope and happiness back to her family.
Let’s join hands to turn Khadija’s struggles into recovery and her parents’ fears into relief. Together, we can make a significant difference in her life.

Khadija Bibi's Story
Khadija Shamshad, a two-year-old girl from Charsadda, KPK, had been struggling with severe health issues since birth. She experienced frequent shortness of breath, persistent fatigue, and inadequate weight gain. It made it difficult for her to grow and thrive like other children of her age. Her parents took her to a nearby hospital for a medical consultation. After conducting a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed Khadija with ALCAPA (Anomalous Left Coronary Artery from the Pulmonary Artery. In addition, she was found to have severe Left Ventricular (LV) dysfunction. To save her life, the doctor recommended open-heart surgery for ALCAPA repair. However, the cost of the procedure was out of her family’s financial capacity.
Khadija comes from a humble background. She lives in a small rented house with her parents and six other family members. Her father, the sole earner, works as a daily wage laborer, making just PKR 15,000 per month. With such a limited income, it was nearly impossible for them to manage the financial burden of their daughter’s critical surgery. Desperate for assistance, Khadija’s parents reached out to Transparent Hands. Understanding the nature of her condition, we quickly registered her case and arranged for her surgery. On January 29, 2025, she was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. Dr. Asim performed a successful open-heart surgery for ALCAPA repair. The procedure was carried out with care, significantly improving her heart function. After receiving post-operative care, Khadija was discharged in stable condition on February 02, 2025.
Khadija’s parents expressed their happiness as follows: "Seeing our daughter struggle for every breath was heartbreaking. Today, she has a new life, all thanks to your kindness. We are incredibly grateful to you for giving her a future filled with health and happiness."
With her heart condition successfully treated, she can now grow up healthy and active. Her parents are filled with hope for her future and extend their deepest gratitude to you and the Pakistan Children's Heart Foundation (PCHF). Your kindness and generosity became a source of hope in their darkest moments and made a meaningful difference in Khadija’s life.
