Let’s Fill Abu Huraira’s World with Sounds

Muhammad Abu Huraira Sarfaraz Ahmad's Story
Muhammad Abu Huraira, a 1-year-old boy from Faisalabad, has been unable to hear and respond to voices since birth. Responding to voices and even listening to the sounds of the toys that make noise is beyond his abilities. His parents’ hearts filled with concern when they noticed his unresponsiveness to sounds. They took him to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing a detailed medical evaluation, the doctor diagnosed Abu Huraira with congenital Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL). To enable him to hear the sounds around him, the doctor has advised him to undergo cochlear implant surgery. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for his family.
If Abu Huraira doesn’t undergo the surgery soon, he may lose the critical time period to develop the ability to hear and speak. Early intervention with a cochlear implant surgery can provide him with the best chance for developing speech and language skills that are essential at his age.
Abu Huraira lives in a modest home with his four family members. His father, the sole breadwinner in the family, works as a police constable. After covering basic necessities such as utility bills, food, and other living expenses, they are left with nothing to save for Abu Huraira’s much-needed surgery. His parents long to see him communicating and thriving in life like other children of his age, but their financial constraints come in the way. Cochlear implant surgery is expensive, and they simply can’t afford to pay for it. During this time of need, his family has contacted Transparent Hands and asked for support.
Abu Huraira’s family expressed their concerns as follows:
“Every day, we watch him miss out on the sounds that bring joy and laughter to other children. This surgery can open up a world of possibilities for him, but we’re unable to pay for it. Please change his life.”
Children with hearing loss face unique challenges, but cochlear implant surgery can bridge that gap. Together, we can create an opportunity for Abu Huraira to hear and communicate fully.
Let’s join hands to empower Abu Huraira with cochlear implant surgery.
