Shehnaz Begum, a 40-year-old woman from Malakand, has been struggling with unbearable pain and swelling in her left hip joint and groin region. Simple movements like standing up or walking a few steps have become challenging for her. The pain has taken over her life, making even daily tasks a challenge. Hoping for relief, she visited a doctor, who performed a thorough examination and diagnosed her with Osteoarthritis in her left hip. The doctor explained that the only solution to ease her pain and restore her mobility is left Total Hip Replacement (THR) surgery. However, the cost of the surgery is beyond her reach.

Without surgery, Shehnaz’s condition will continue to worsen. The pain will become unbearable, eventually leaving her unable to walk at all. If left untreated, the osteoarthritis will lead to severe joint damage and deformity, making her permanently dependent on others for even the most basic tasks. Shehnaz has always been strong for her children, but now she finds herself trapped in a situation where she cannot help herself.

Shehnaz’s struggles go beyond her health. She is a widow who has been trying to raise her four children with dignity despite her hardships. She has no source of income and relies on her son-in-law, who supports her and her children to the best of his ability. However, his financial situation is already stretched thin as he has his own family to take care of. They live in a rented house, paying PKR 8000 per month for house rent and PKR 1000 for utility bills. Affording to pay for her surgery is significantly challenging for them. During this difficult time, Shehnaz has turned to Transparent Hands with a plea for help.

With tears in her eyes, Shehnaz said:

“I have faced so many challenges in life, but this pain is something I can no longer bear. I don’t want to be dependent on others. I just want to be able to walk again and take care of my children. Please help me get this surgery so I can live without pain.”
