Aziz Bano's Story
Aziz Bano, a 56-year-old woman from Hyderabad, Sindh, has been suffering from a painful eye condition for the past year. She experiences redness, persistent discharge, itching, and irritation that never seems to go away. Day by day, the discomfort has only worsened and affects her routine tasks. Aziz went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After a thorough medical examination, the doctor diagnosed her with Left Eye Chronic Dacryocystitis—an infection of the tear duct. To prevent the condition from becoming more severe, the doctor has advised her to undergo Left Eye Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) under general anesthesia. However, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for her family.
Without surgery, Aziz’s condition will grow more complicated. It may lead to serious infections and possibly affect her vision permanently.
Following the death of her husband, Aziz has been living with her only son in a modest house. Her son is currently unemployed, struggling to find work in a tough job market. The family survives on the limited financial support of her nephew, who gives them PKR 18,000 per month. Out of this amount, PKR 1000 goes toward utility bills, and the rest is barely enough to cover food and other daily essentials. With no savings and no other source of income, the cost of the surgery remains a dream out of reach.
Aziz Bano shared her heartfelt plea as follows:
“There are nights I lie awake because the itching and burning in my eye won’t let me rest. I’ve tried to bear it, thinking it would pass, but it hasn’t. I only wish for peace, to wake up one day without this condition, and to live the rest of my life with ease and dignity. I request you to support me in receiving this necessary treatment.”
