Help Shamshad Walk Again
Shamshad Anwar Masih's Story
Shamshad, a 60-year-old resident of Lahore, has been enduring the debilitating effects of osteoarthritis in her left knee for the past five years. What started as a nagging discomfort has grown into a debilitating condition that has severely limited her mobility and independence.
Upon consulting a doctor, Shamshad underwent a series of tests, including an x-ray, which revealed the true extent of her condition. The diagnosis was clear – Shamshad was suffering from severe osteoarthritis, and the only viable solution was a Left Total Knee Replacement surgery.
Shamshad said the following words with a heavy heart:
“The pain in my knee has become a constant companion, robbing me of the simple joys of life. I used to be an active and independent person, but now, even the most basic tasks have become a struggle. I long for the day when I can walk without the aid of a cane when I can once again be a productive member of my family.”
Shamshad’s family, already facing significant financial challenges, is ill-equipped to handle the substantial cost of the recommended surgery. She lives in a rented 3-Marla house in Lahore with her husband and five children. Her husband, a cardiac patient, is unable to work, leaving the family’s sole source of income to be her son, a daily wage earner, who brings home approximately PKR 40,000 per month.
This meager income is barely enough to cover the family’s basic expenses, including a monthly rent of PKR 10,000 and utility bills of PKR 4,000. With no other source of income and the rising cost of living, Shamshad’s family simply cannot afford the surgical expenses required to restore her mobility and independence.
With your compassionate support, we can ensure that Shamshad regains her mobility, her independence, and her rightful place as a vital member of her family and community. Together, we can help Shamshad reclaim her life and regain her mobility.
