Shabana Kousar's Story

Shabana Kausar, a 38-year-old resident of Gujranwala, experienced a lump in her right breast that prompted her to seek medical attention. After undergoing evaluation and examination, she received the devastating diagnosis of breast cancer, leading to immediate surgical intervention. Following her surgery, an oncologist recommended chemotherapy as the next step in her treatment plan to combat and downstage the disease and reviewed the final reports. Shabana’s cancer was found to be HER2-positive, necessitating the administration of Herceptin injections.

In addition to battling this life-threatening illness, Shabana faces the harsh reality of her financial circumstances. She is a homemaker, and her husband runs a small chicken shop, earning approximately 35,000 PKR per month. With four young children to support and their educational expenses amounting to approximately 8,000 PKR, along with a shop rent of 20,000 PKR and monthly bills of 5,000 PKR, Shabana’s husband is the sole breadwinner and cannot afford the expenses associated with her surgical treatment.

Shabana’s journey began with the discovery of a lump in her right breast, followed by a series of medical procedures and diagnoses. She underwent a right modified radical mastectomy (Rt. MRM) to remove the cancerous tumor. Subsequently, she pursued a comprehensive follow-up treatment plan consisting of 12 cycles of chemotherapy. Additionally, she received 12 injections of Herceptin, a critical medication that must be continued for her recovery.

Shabana expressed it in a desperate tone:

“I desire with all my heart to beat breast cancer and witness the precious moments of my children growing up. But the weight of the financial burden is crushing my family, and we find ourselves desperately in need of assistance.”

Moved by Shabana’s heartfelt plea for help, Transparent Hands has registered her case, recognising the urgency and significance of her situation. We invite kind-hearted donors to join us in supporting Shabana’s cause

Shabana Kousar, a 38-year-old woman from Gujranwala, was facing severe pain because of a lump on her right breast. Upon consultation from an oncologist, she got the shocking news about having right-sided breast cancer. She underwent a right modified radical mastectomy (MRM) to remove the tender lump on her breast. To combat the disease, her doctor prescribed chemotherapy as the next crucial step in her treatment plan.

Shabana's breast cancer was HER2-positive. In addition to chemotherapy, her oncologist recommended the administration of Herceptin Injections to completely beat the cancer.

Shabana was unable to perform her household chores due to an intense pain in her breast. Additionally, a big obstacle loomed over her path to recovery—financial constraints. The cost of the life-saving treatment seemed impossible. Yet, a ray of hope emerged when Shabana contacted Transparent Hands for financial support.
