Help Sadiqan to Obtain a Prosthetic Leg
Sadiqan Pervaiz's Story
Sadiqan Pervaiz, a 51-year-old resident of Okara, finds herself in a challenging situation as she navigates the aftermath of a life-altering event. A year ago, Sadiqan faced the devastating consequence of her diabetes, resulting in the amputation of her right leg. Now, she finds herself in desperate need of a right below-knee prosthetic leg to regain her mobility and independence.
As a housewife, her primary role has been to care for her family, including her husband and five children. She lives in a rented house near the village of Okara. Her husband and sons work as daily wage laborers, collectively earning approximately PKR 40,000 per month. However, this meager income is barely sufficient to cover the necessities of their household, including the PKR 5,000 rent and PKR 4,000 in utility bills.
In this financial strain, Sadiqan’s need for a prosthetic leg has become an insurmountable challenge. The cost of the necessary medical equipment and rehabilitation process is simply beyond their reach. Undeterred, Sadiqan has reached out to Transparent Hands, seeking the support and assistance she so desperately needs.
Sadiqan said it with teary eyes:
“I long to reclaim my independence and fully participate in the lives of my family once more. With the right prosthetic leg, I can regain my mobility, restore my self-confidence, and actively contribute to the well-being of my household. However, the cost of the rehabilitation process is simply beyond our means. I am reaching out to all kind donors for their support.”

Sadiqan Pervaiz's Story
Sadiqan Pervaiz, a 51-year-old woman from Okara, lost her right leg due to high-risk diabetes. She was a pillar of her family, caring for her children and maintaining her home. After the amputation, she found herself unable to walk or stand and her daily chores became a struggle. Her condition was taking a toll on her emotional and physical well-being. Her doctor recommended a below-knee prosthesis to restore her ability to walk. However, the cost of the artificial leg was overwhelming for her family.
Sadiqan lived in a small rented house with her eight family members. Her husband and sons are daily wage laborers and they collectively earn PKR 40,000 per month. This meager monthly income barely covered their house rent, utility bills as well as groceries. Their financial situation was stretched thin and affording the prosthesis was significantly challenging for them. A ray of hope arose when a neighbor told them about Transparent Hands. Sadiqan’s family turned to us and asked us for assistance. Recognizing the gravity of her situation, we registered her case.
On 5th August 2024, Sadiqan’s below-knee prosthesis was fitted at Hope Rehabilitation Centre, Lahore. It was done under the supervision of Dr. Khalid Niaz. Sadiqan was overwhelmed with happiness when she took her first step with an artificial leg.
Sadiqan expressed her emotions as follows:
“I can’t describe the joy I felt. For the first time in months, I felt like I could stand tall again. You’ve given me dignity and the strength to move forward. I don’t have words to extend my gratitude. You changed my life and I thank you for your help.”
Sadiqan is embracing life with new confidence and determination. Through a prosthetic leg, she can now carry out her household tasks without any support from others.
This change was made possible just because of you. You didn’t just provide her with an artificial leg but also gave her a lifeline to live her life with courage and independence.
